Surface Finishing Technical Director

Graham Torr currently serves as Sales and Marketing Manager for Haviland Products Company and is liaison to company President & C.E.O. Bernie Haviland for all technical service issues, general director of surface finishing operations for the Technical Sales Team, specialty product research, development, marketing and advertisement.
Since joining the company in March of 2000, he has orchestrated the transition from mere distributor, to formulator and manufacturer of specialty products. This has subsequently grown this business area to compete with other major SF suppliers and set the stage to take Haviland Products Company (Surface Finishing Division) in to the 21st Century!
Graham has over 15 years experience in the surface finishing industry and is fully conversant with chemical process and properties of all analytical, theoretical and practical plating operations, including: Zinc (Alk. CN, NCN, Cl), Copper, Nickel, Chrome, Tin, Tin-Lead, E-Deposition, Phosphate, Aluminum and Zinc Chromate conversion coatings, rack design / process optimization, customer services and general plant management.
His previous work experience as Plant manager for two plating plants include responsibility for entire plant operations, including: workforce (>50 employees) die cast quality, polish/buff process, plate and all environmental reporting pertinent to EPA, DEQ, City of Grand Rapids and Michigan effluent and emission limitations. 
He is a current N.A.S.F./A.E.S.F member, serves on the board of directors for the South-west Michigan N.A.S.F. branch, holds A.E.S.F. diplomas in study courses ranging from electro-chemistry to electro-finishing metallurgy and has attained CEF-3 registration.

Rob Pawson has been promoted to Regional Sales Manager for Haviland’s South and Soutwest Regions. Rob’s duties will include the sales and marketing strategies for Haviland’s specialty and commodity chemistry.
Rob joined the Haviland Products technical service team in 1994.
Rob has successfully worked with over 250 anodizing accounts in his career and grown his knowledge by working with every one of them.
At his customer visits, Rob actively helps captive shops, job shops, continuous coil shops, and architectural shops to lower their overall costs.  Rob is a graduate of Western Michigan University where he majored in Bio-Medical Science and Chemistry.  He is a member of the Aluminum Anodizers’ Council and the NASF, where he regularly seeks continued education in technical service as well as sales and marketing.

Jim joined the Haviland Products technical service team in 2007.
His 14 years as a sales & engineering professional in the metal finishing and heat treat industries has provided him with the expertise and experience to develop and implement chemical solutions for customer processes.

Prior to joining Haviland Products Company, Jim excelled as a Technical Sales Representative for Heatbath Park Metallurgical beginning in 2001.  Before his technical sales career, Jim worked in manufacturing at CompX Precision Slides as Plating Manager in addition to Knape & Vogt Manufacturing as a Chemical Process Engineer. 
Jim is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a B.S. in Chemistry.  He is also a member of the NASF (National Association of Surface Finishing), AICC (Association International Chemical Coaters), and WAI (Wire Association International).

Mark Siegrist is an Account Manager for Haviland Products Company.  The experience he has at Haviland creates a seasoned, technical and resourceful problem solver for many different areas of the chemical industry. His combination of a technical degree in Chemistry, along with his formal training in Sales and Sales Management has made for a long and storied career at Haviland.

The greatest accomplishment Mark will say he has attained is in collecting the best team available and the commitment to continuous personal and professional growth. His 25 years at Haviland has seen growth in very tough industries and very different economies. With a winning attitude, customers have benefited greatly in many different ways in their dealings with Mark. For some, it was process improvements that lowered overall cost or brought them into different markets. For others, it was the offering of a single-source value proposition that greatly reduced administrative, delivery and inventory costs. With the experience gained in so many different customer situations, he always brings an idea to the discussion.

There were short stints with Vopak (now known as Univar) and MacDermid, but it was the entrepreneurial attitude and growth at Haviland that drew him back. The time away was well spent though as it opened up his exposure to many different markets, management methods and business models. The growth, which accompanied his return, was due to creating a team approach with the cornerstones being Industry Specialists working as Manufacturing Chemists to create Excellence in Distribution.

Ron joined the Haviland Products technical service team in 2005.
He has worked in the metal finishing industry for 28 years and has developed an extensive knowledge of most electro deposited metallic coatings. In 1980, Ron began his career in a plating shop, processing exterior specified copper, nickel, and chrome for the automotive industry. He moved from solution maintenance and chemical control into technical service and sales in 1984. At Haviland Products he works extensively with the product development team to research and formulate Haviland’s line of proprietary chemistries to meet customer specifications and economic needs.
Ron graduated for Michigan Technological University in 1984 with a B.S. in Business Management Finance. He is a member and past president of the Grand Rapids Branch NASF.

Dan joined the Haviland Products technical service team in 2006.
Dan has 12 years of experience in the metal finishing industry; he has held a variety of positions in plating shops, starting at Mid-State Plating in Flint Michigan. After achieving the quality manager position at Mid-State, Dan spent five years as the General Manger of Baycote Metal Finishing in Mishawaka Indiana. Customers have found it pleasing to work with a technical salesman with so much hands-on experience in metal finishing, while provided finishes that meet the strong quality standards of today’s industry. Dan is well versed in the both the production and quality sides of metal finishing.

JR joined the Haviland Products technical service team in 2001.
He brings a combined twenty-three years of sales and surface finishing experience that encompassed a broad range of processes.
JR started his career as a laboratory technician, later he moved into the position of Environmental Manager where he was challenged with the task of managing discharge compliance as well as the responsibility of maintaining related government reports.
He eventually moved to Sales and Marketing Manager, then to General Manager within the company. His passion for maintaining an efficient and desirable workplace led to an increase of production rates while providing a pleasing work environment. JR brings a rare combination of management and marketing skills to the technical service position.

  • Lydia joined the Haviland team in 2011. Prior to joining Haviland, Lydia gained 14 years of experience in sales, customer service, and finance. In addition, she brings an impeccable ethic and desire to create that customer to client relationship which Haviland saw as an undeniable reason to bring her on board. She is a 1999 graduate of Baker College in Muskegon with an Associates in Small Business Management. Lydia currently is Haviland’s Account Manager for Inside Sales.
